Role Overview of a Claims Adjuster: This position is responsible
for, but not limited to, working toward fulfillment of the
Company’s goal to provide prompt, fair, quality claims service.
This role also investigates and manages the settlement of assigned
claims, performing all duties with the use of independent judgment
and subject to regular review. Claims Adjusters in the field serve
as the primary liaison between the Home Office and agency force by
facilitating the adjustment of assigned claims, conducting on-site
inspections, and preparing comprehensive underwriting reports.
Responsibilities of a Claims Adjuster : Demonstrates the Company’s
mission, while successfully performing its core values related to
integrity, service, excellence, stability, strength, respect, and
teamwork. Ensure timely and accurate communication, support agency
personnel in resolving claims-related issues, and uphold company
standards for service, policy interpretation, and reporting. Manage
assigned loss claims and conduct underwriting inspections,
preparing and submitting detailed reports to the appropriate
department. Ensure all actions comply with the terms of the
insurance contract, striving to pay fair and accurate claim amounts
while fostering and maintaining strong customer relationships.
Regularly communicate with producing agents to keep them informed
of claims handling progress and issues related to their clients.
Provide guidance and updates on Company policies and procedures to
support agents in their roles. Regular and timely attendance in the
office is an essential function of the position. Skills and
Qualifications of a Claims Adjuster : High school diploma or
equivalent required; college degree preferred. Completion of
insurance-related courses is helpful. A valid driver’s license with
a clean driving record is required. Excellent communication skills,
with the ability to interact effectively with agents, insureds, and
claimants via written correspondence, email, phone, and in person.
Ability to work independently, demonstrating strong initiative and
awareness of the importance of timely completion of all
responsibilities and job functions. Proficient in using a personal
computer, including familiarity with standard business software
applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite). Demonstrated ability
to manage and maintain confidential information with
professionalism and discretion is required. A comprehensive and
strong knowledge of policy language, insurance principles, and
coverage details is essential. Ability to work under varied
conditions including indoor/outdoor environments, temperature
extremes, uneven or slippery surfaces, and possible exposure to
pollutants and irritants. Physical capability to lift up to 40
pounds, bend, stoop, crawl, climb ladders, and work at elevated
heights. Ability to stand or walk for prolonged periods and conduct
thorough visual inspections of insured property. Flexibility to
work beyond standard hours (40 hours per week or 5 days per week)
and to travel to other district offices as needed. Willingness and
ability to work beyond standard business hours when required to
meet business needs. General knowledge or aptitude in construction,
agri-business, and/or automobile repair is preferred. FMNE
