Product Engineer
JOB TYPE:

LOCATION:
Fargo, North Dakota
JOB SUMMARY FOR PRODUCT ENGINEER:
Onsite Position.
Driving between locations will be required under 5% of the time as
facilities are within 5 miles of each other.
This is a 1st Shift position
Metatarsals will be required from day one.
This person will work with a cross-functional design team to
determine testing requirements for various products.
This person will, with some assistance, perform test procedures,
author test plans, and review results.
This person will perform tasks with one-on-one supervision to meet
quality, delivery and cost goals.
This position requires technical judgment and independent thinking
to solve problems and complete assigned projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES FOR PRODUCT ENGINEER:
Plans, coordinates, performs product design, testing and/or
analysis work for a complete project of moderate scope or for a
significant portion or a sub-system of a major and diverse
project.
Operates in a team environment, providing input to design solutions
and participating in design reviews.
May assign, coordinate and review portions of the work to support
personnel.
Decisions are made within established guidelines and may be
reviewed by supervisors.
Executes high level applications to more complex problems.
Analyzes assignments and determines engineering specifications
which must be fulfilled for complex problems or projects of
moderate scope.
Produces and/or evaluates possible design solutions to improve
cost, quality and performance based on specialized knowledge of
engineering applications.
This may include possible involvement of other functional
engineers, supply management and/or supplier personnel.
Compiles and furnishes necessary information (engineering decisions
and reports of pertinent design analyses data) to document the
design solution required for building of prototypes and adoption of
the design with possible involvement of other functional engineers,
supply management and/or supplier personnel.
Provides technical support to marketing, manufacturing, quality and
supply management organizations.
Develops and/or executes test or analysis plan for product
verification and validation.
Applies knowledge of company products, policies and practices to
provide economies through standardization of parts and
products.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE FOR PRODUCT ENGINEER:
Experience with product development processes
Experience with test fixture design
Experience with development and debugging tools (e.g.
oscilloscopes, multi-meters, etc.)
Experience with microcontroller peripherals and systems (e.g. PWM
outputs, boot loaders, A/D converters, serial and parallel
interfaces, etc.)
Experience with communication networks (e.g. CAN, Ethernet,
RS-232/485, etc.)
Experience with communication protocols (e.g. J1939, ISO11783,
TCP/IP, etc.)
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS FOR PRODUCT ENGINEER:
Minimum B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, or Industrial
Engineering from an accredited engineering program. (or
equivalent).
1-5 years experience with product testing of electronics
1-5 years project management experience
Understanding of the basics of embedded controllers
Understanding of the basics of design validation
Good written and verbal communications skills (English)
Good organization skills (multi-tasking)
Good customer service skills
