Job SummaryThe Electrical Engineer is responsible for designing electronics and printed circuit boards, designing, coordinating, and conducting tests of electrical systems, parts, and equipment, evaluating test results and implementing corrections and adjustments to solve problems or inefficiencies. Electrical Engineers at Applied may also work on conducting research activities including exploration and selection of new components, prepare and interpret schematic drawings, layouts, and other visual aids, prepare technical design specifications, perform embedded hardware design activities including component selection, schematic generation, bills of materials, and prototype tests. Responsibilities and DutiesPerform embedded hardware design activities including component selection, schematic generation, bills of materials and prototype test.Review development plans for compliance with adopted engineering standards and practices.Review and critique proposed changes to engineering standards, policies, or details.Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.Operate computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews.Direct and coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.Plan and implement research methodology and procedures to apply principles of electrical theory to engineering projects.Prepare specifications for purchase of materials and equipment.Oversee project production efforts to assure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget.Compile data and write reports regarding existing and potential engineering studies and projects. Qualifications and SkillsB.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited engineering programPreferred experience with the following: Mathcad, Mentor Graphics Schematic Capture, PSpice or LTSpice, Microsoft Office ExcelAbility to develop and maintain architecture, schematic, and layouts of electrical and electronic systemsAbility to develop and execute electrical verification plansProficient in common interfaces, standards, and circuitry in the electronic spaces Required:BacAbility to independently evaluate, select, and apply of standard engineering techniques,procedures, and criteria in carrying out engineering tasks Able to make preliminary selections or adaptations of engineering alternative Ability to interface with customers with guidance from supervisor Good written and verbal communication skills (English) Experience in electronic circuit design: 1 to 3 years Benefits and PerksApplied Engineering is a 100% employee-owned engineering and technology company that is dedicated to providing exceptional talent and technology with offices throughout the Midwest.
