a proactive and experienced Sr Safety Manager to join our team and
lead safety initiatives across our industrial operations. This
critical role will serve as a strategic partner to site leadership,
providing technical expertise, coaching, and hands-on support to
foster a culture of safety excellence. The ideal candidate will
bring deep knowledge of regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and
employee engagement to drive continuous improvement in health,
safety, and environmental performance across multiple
facilities.
Primary Responsibilities & Duties:
- Provide technical support and subject matter expertise to
industrial operations leadership and site teams.
- Coach and develop operations leaders and on-site safety
professionals to lead with a safety-first mindset.
- Conduct audits to enhance safety standards aimed at preventing
serious injuries and fatalities; ensure ongoing regulatory
compliance.
- Monitor and ensure closure of high-risk items stemming from
audits, incidents, and proactive safety metrics.
- Support the development of health, safety, and environmental
(HSE) goals for site management and establish activity-based goals
for leadership and frontline supervisors.
- Design and implement HSE training programs to build knowledge
and competency across all levels of the organization.
- Assist with workforce safety training and deployment of safety
tools at plant locations.
- Evaluate work practices, procedures, and facilities to assess
risk and ensure legal compliance.
- Identify and recommend solutions to improve safety performance
and prevent incidents.
- Track and report on health and safety performance metrics,
trends, and awareness initiatives.
- Serve as the company's Subject Matter Expert on key safety
programs and protocols.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal
safety regulations.
- Partner with operational leaders and safety captains to
implement training focused on high-risk exposures (e.g., confined
space entry, lockout/tagout, grain handling standards).
- Lead root cause investigations of serious incidents and
implement corrective action plans.
- Represent the company in regulatory meetings and industry
safety committees.
- Communicate HSE strategy, progress, and goals effectively to
Senior Leadership.
- Develop and track meaningful safety metrics to drive
performance and accountability.
- Oversee a company-wide system for hazard identification, risk
evaluation, and control implementation.
- Manage all aspects of workers' compensation claims.
- Ensure DOT compliance, including maintenance of driver
qualification files, drug testing, and required training. Skills &
Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Sciences, or a
related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing safety
role, preferably in food or agribusiness industries.
- Strong knowledge and practical application of OSHA regulations
and general safety practices.
- Proven experience supporting multiple facilities or
locations.
- Demonstrated ability to influence, lead, and coach at all
