For the right candidate, the EHS Manager role is a starting point on the path to a Corporate Director of Safety roleA culture focused on ensuring the health, safety and well-being of its employeesSupport and mentorship from team members who are authentic, good-natured and highly skilledCompetitive wages, incentive pay and a comprehensive package of benefitsResponsibilities:Ensures the facilities and all contractors/vendors are in compliance with all Federal, State, and Local Safety and Environmental Regulations. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following areas: Safety, Health, Environmental, Risk Management and Process Safety Management.Maintains all safety reports, logs, and other documentation to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local agencies.Facilitates all government safety inspections and responds in a timely manner, in coordination with facility management, to inquiries/inspections by loss control service provider and government agencies (OSHA, EPA, Insurance Carrier, etc.).Develops, maintains, and implements safety/environmental procedures, programs, incentive programs, and awareness material to reduce control and eliminate occupational safety/ environmental and health hazards.Develops and provides direction for Safety Committees.Performs accident investigations, conducts safety audits to ensure compliance with company & governmental regulations, ensures understanding and enforcement of plant safety rules.Provides special training programs including Supervisor safety training and special employee safety training programs and maintains accident records and supporting documentation.Conducts environmental audits and submits reports to ensure compliance with company and governmental procedures and regulations.Ensures the provisions of plant safety systems and personal protective equipment required to control the risk of hazards in the workplace.Oversee the implementation of corrective action arising from an accident investigation and hazard reports. Provides audit advice and counsel as requested for other locations outside of own.Manages, trains and develops subordinates. (will they have reports in this location?)Ensures compliance with OSHAs Process Safety Management Standard, EPAs Chemical Accident Prevention Provision Risk Management Plan (RMP) regulation and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Writes, manages, implements and maintains all fourteen (14) elements programs of the OSHA Process Safety Management standard and the additional requirements of EPA Risk Management Plan regulation.Includes: Process Hazard Analysis, Operating Procedures (Ammonia), Contractor Management, Hot Work Permits, Management of Change, Incident Investigation, Emergency Planning & Response, Compliance Audits and the EPA Risk Management Plan.Assesses, tracks and completes necessary updates with respect to PSM and RMP compliance date obligations and metrics.Recommends, implements and manages actions to address or correct for compliance date obligations or metrics requiring improvement.Able to use software and common Microsoft office tools to generate and track metrics, compliance obligations, workflows and action items.QualificationsYears of Experience: 5 -7 years related work experience Education: Bachelors degree or equivalent Knowledge/Skills/AbilitiesThe desire to make a meaningful difference. We need someone who competes to win!Authentic leader: direct communicator, able to build strong relationships across the company, with all levels.Must have great collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively work closely with cross-functional teams.Previous Management Experience in Risk Management/Safety area.Working knowledge of Federal and State regulations with respect to OSHA, ADA, EPA regulations, USDA, and other applicable regulations.Experience in Loss Control Consulting or Industrial Health and Safety and Managed Care Return-To- Work and/or Claims Management.Experience with OSHAs Process Safety Management (PSM) regulation and EPAs Risk Management Plan (RMP).Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems a plus.Ability to effectively supervise employees.Ability to conduct training sessions and give presentations to small and/or large groups of peopleAble to use software and common Microsoft office tools to generate and track metrics, compliance obligations, workflows and action items.The employing subsidiaries of Schwans Company are Equal Employment Opportunity Employers.
