Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Med Surg - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 12/01/2025 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, rotating - Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med Surg Float Pool position requiring ND or compact RN licensure and recent large hospital med-surg experience. Responsibilities - Position is in the Med Surg Resource Team/Float Pool within an acute hospital setting - Patient population includes a variety of med-surg specialties such as oncology, trauma, cardiac, neuro, observation, and medical behavioral patients - Works across multiple hospital campuses and med-surg overflow spaces, including med-surg status patients in critical care units - Typical unit sizes range from 24 to 47 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5 (7a-11p) and 1:5-6 (11p-7a) - Uses equipment including Epic EMR, Accudose Rx, Alaris IV pumps, and Philips vitals machines - 12-hour day/night rotating shifts with every other weekend and holiday required - Float assignment requires daily calls to confirm the unit for the shift - Orientation includes one shift each at two campuses, plus team expectations and campus tours during the first week - Responsibilities include head-to-toe assessments, medication administration by multiple routes, formulating and documenting care plans, and wound/line/drain care - Navy blue scrubs are required - All clinicians must badge in and out at the facility - First week orientation covers both primary campuses and departmental expectations - Travelers cannot be considered if living within a 60-mile radius of the facility; those living 60 to 80 miles away may be subject to a lower rate - Prior employees must have a minimum six-month gap from their last employment at Sanford Health to be considered - Holiday coverage is mandatory as assigned Requirements - Active ND RN or Compact state license required - Minimum 1 year recent med-surg experience in a hospital with at least 200 beds - Prior float pool experience preferred - Current BLS certification from American Heart Association required - Experience with Epic EMR required - Must have worked in a level 2 or higher trauma center - Must be willing to float within the med-surg cluster and between campuses Benefits - High Pay and Bonuses - Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options - 401(k) Plan - Weekly Payroll Deposit - Free Online CEUs - Generous Housing Allowance - Travel and Licensure Reimbursements - Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy - Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-630223.
