Must-Have: - MedSurg, Tele, Pediatrics experience - Wide skill set
required due to a variety of patient age and diagnoses - Ability to
read and interpret telemetry Description: This position is for a
Registered Nurse specializing in Med/Surg, Telemetry, and
Pediatrics. The unit handles a wide range of patient populations
from pediatrics to geriatrics. Patients present with various
conditions including respiratory diseases, infectious diseases, and
chronic illnesses. Common admissions may include cases related to
ETOH intoxication, liver disease, and acute kidney injury.
Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-5 during the day and 1:5-6 at
night. If a patient is critical, the nurse will care for only 1-2
patients. RNs will be required to titrate drips, including insulin,
Lasix, and heparin. There is no charge nurse on each shift, but a
nursing coordinator is available for assistance. The unit is
supported by nursing assistants, with a ratio of 1:12. Nurses will
work in collaboration with respiratory therapists and must utilize
various respiratory equipment. There are no monitor technicians on
the unit; RNs must be competent in telemetry. Scheduling requires
weekend work of 2 out of every 6 weekends and holiday availability
as needed. Floating to other departments may occur but will not
extend beyond the scope of practice. Scrub colors are flexible. RTO
should be provided upfront; no additional RTO will be approved
after submission. The hospital may cancel a limited number of
shifts during the assignment. The charting system used is Meditech.
