Performs cardiac tests and monitors patient heart functions using diverse cardiology equipment. Checks, calibrates, and maintains cardiology equipment to ensure proper operation and accurate test results. Provides care and counseling for cardiac patients to ensure their comfort and safety during cardiac tests and treatments. Alerts nurses or physicians of critical values, abnormalities, or changes in patient responses. Obtains and records patient information and medical histories; interprets electrocardiogram (EKG) results and generates factual written reports.QualificationsHigh school diploma or its equivalent is required.Knowledge of basic cardiac anatomy and physiology. Working knowledge of basic and intermediate life threatening cardiac rhythms, special equipment used in cardiac testing, computers, and medical terminology.Must meet one of the following criteria dependent on facility needs as it may vary by needs:- Possess Certified Cardiographic- Associate's degree in a health science field- Three years' experience as a cardiac technician- Obtains Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT) certification within one year into positionBenefitsSanford Health offers an attractive benefits package for qualifying full-time and part-time employees.
