Job Overview









The Plant Manager provides direct leadership to Production Leadership, Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance, with indirect leadership to supporting functions to accomplish Marvin's annual business goals. This individual manages the company's assets, to ensure Marvin's policies are being followed consistently and develops a strong management team that can facilitate the achievement of business goals. The Plant Manager prepares presentations and regularly communicates with other business associates about Marvin's business plan progression. The main responsibility of the Plant Manager is to focus on "Continuous Improvement" throughout the organization while developing a culture focused on winning as a team. Excellent oral and written communication skills, the ability to work well with others in a team environment, and the ability to mentor and direct subordinates when working on related projects is required. Some necessary skills are effective problem-solving skills, high organizational skills, the ability to foresee the needs of the business and the skills/motivation to plan and react accordingly. Must demonstrate the ability to work well within a diverse workplace, handle challenges that arise with tact/respect, and be a flexible leader. Must be able to work under pressure and remain calm during difficult situations and can address a variety of unpredictable situations through to a resolution. Must possess strong integrity, confidentiality, and present a positive company image consistent with Marvin's values-this individual must also remain ethical in all relationships and interactions with others.













Highlights of your role









  • Provide direction and leadership for plant management and associates to meet business plan goals and foster an environment of "Continuous Improvement" or CI.
  • Actively support, in collaboration with HR leadership, the maintenance and applicability of policies/guidelines, for example, Associate Handbook, appraisal/discipline practices, safety and wellness initiatives, and employee relations.
  • Create and maintain an environment where a labor union is not necessary through positive and effective employee relations and fair and equitable treatment of all associates.
  • Establish strong working relationships with other functional managers within the organization, both locally and with the other Marvin locations.
  • Motivate all associates within, and outside of, the direct organization to support key business and plant operations goals/initiatives.
  • Meet all customer requirements and orders with the delivery of quality products produced and delivered within the established timeframes.
  • Provide reports to subordinates on interpretation of results and approves changes in direction of plans; defines and recommends objectives in each area of operations.
  • Maintain appropriate communication within area of responsibility and keep employees informed as to the company/plant plans and progress; present monthly reports on the performance as requested by the Director of Operations and actively participate in the analysis/planning of budgets for the location.
  • Appropriately challenge ideas and/or programs that may be preventing accomplishment of goals and remove roadblocks for associates as they are identified.
  • Accountability measures include: capacity planning, culture and people development, managing materials, labor and SGA, quality, and providing a safe work environment.

    • Bachelor's degree required; degree in Engineering (or similar) is strongly preferred, as is an MBA
    • Minimum five-year's experience as the leader in a manufacturing facility with 200+ employees with direct responsibility for manufacturing, materials, management, engineering, and human resources is required
    • Interaction experience with sales and service personnel and strong knowledge of manufacturing principles to improve cost, quality, delivery, and safety is required.
    • Must possess a proven ability to recruit, train, develop and lead talent.
